With operations beginning in 1992, our Shanghai plant is one of the first facilities to start operations in China.

Our Shanghai plant was Cabot's first plant in China and the first foreign investment chemical enterprise after China's reform and opening in Shanghai. After decades of development, Shanghai plant now owns three units with a total carbon black output of 170,000 tons annually, and an Energy Center that produces 700,000 tons of steam annually. The plant has earned a good reputation in the local government and community, has established a robust SHE&S culture and continuously achieves excellent operation performance. Our Shanghai plant, with around 80 employees, serves as a cradle of talent for Cabot China, producing many outstanding senior leaders and managers who contribute to Cabot's success both in China, across the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

The plant maintains first-class operational performance in the Reinforcement Materials network, such as having the highest Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and keeping the record for its Energy Center continuously running. The plant always keeps innovating and optimizing its technology to achieve manufacturing excellence and strives to build a more sustainable future.
